Acute Granular Pharyngitis

Acute Granular Pharyngitis - this is what i am having right now (in ordinary english - sore throat and cough). Need to take tablets for next 5 days and hope that i dont pass it on to friends and family around me...

Apart from tablets, Alex lozenges have been prescribed - they taste awful... Strepsils or Vicks is much better. Last time i had sore throat, i had almost got addicted to strepsils and used to keep a few extra with me even after throat got allright...

Wristwatch collection

Did not wear my new Tommy Hilfiger watch today but selected Swatch. The Tommy one is an all steel one and looks really grand. The Swatch is a more sober and simpler one which is the mood for today.
Few of my close friends know my craze for wrist watches. I always liked watches but it was only in the last 3 to 4 years that i have started accumulating many. Whenever i went onsite i would buy one and certain occasions i got watches as gifts. Now i have 17 and next one on the radar is Esprit...

Terror attack on Sri Lankan Cricketers

As you sow, so shall you reap.
Sponsoring Terrorism has now got out of control of the ISI. The latest attack on the innocent Sri Lankan cricketers in Pakistan will bring more international focus on the problem.
UPA government will no doubt take advantage of this opportunity to increase the pitch on the war on terror; especially with the elections close by...
But not much will change unless the USA stops its military and economic support to Pakistan. Also one should not forget China's covert support to Pakistan.
I think Terrorism is the greatest problem of mankind currently, even bigger than Global warming.

Digital Camera Temptation

For the umpteenth time i checked out reviews of Sony Cybershot H50 to convince myself that i should buy this wonderful gadget... Also the best DSLR (Olympus) is priced only double of the H50, so started thinking whether i should go for the DSLR itself.
But somehow not able to be carefree in spending during this recession. I still have my old Sony 4MP camera. And even if i buy should i be using my credit card for this? Should i not repay as much of the outstanding amount on my credit card instead?
So restrained myself from the temptation and will wait for when i can break free....

Parenting

Nobody has an impact on an individual like his or her parents. Doing the wrong thing leaves lasting scars...
And ignorance is certainly not an excuse. Neither is stubbornness and insensitivity in the guise of misguided self-righteousness.
Makes me feel what a great responsibility this is when i look at my kids. Hope i do it right...

Office

Back to office yesterday after a restful day on wednesday. Team brought a cake and had nice little party in the Pantry. Plus the card with everyone's best wishes made my day..

After some tough times this was more sweeter... During difficult times one understands the reality; where we actually stand. Few well-wishers and many who keep a distance...

Silence and Prayer

Today being my Birthday, i wanted to implement something important.

Few days back i had seen an interview on NDTV Profit with Deepak Chopra where one of the suggestions he gave was to try Silence. Not only external but internal as well by actively quietening the inner noise. Try it yourself and you will see what this means...

Anyway today tried it with a bit of Prayer as well and i liked it. Will do this everyday for few minutes at least from today...

Rehman

Rehman wins 2 Oscars!!

Finally a genius gets his due.... The song "Jai Ho" deserves the award.

So, is Rehman the greatest ever Indian music composer? Music is a subjective topic - each one has his or her individual likes. But one fact remains that Rehman has created his own style and has composed in almost all genres; probably more than any other composer that i can think of...

Restarting

Long time had stopped using this blog. Will update regularly from now onwards (i hope!)
What with the recession and uncertain times for IT folks, i am hoping that writing will help in pacifying some of the insecurities....

13 going on 30

Saw this movie yesterday. Nice feel good movie. Jenna (jennifer garner) at 13 yrs with some magic dust is transformed into a successful & beautiful 30 yr old. But she soon realizes how commercial her life has become. Best friend played by mark ruffalo is at his deprecating best and jenna acknowledges his love at the end.
Makes u think about the priorities in life and how not to lose sight of the blessings u have in search of something more... Brings a smile - worth more than one see...
Also was impressed by jennifer - much more than jennifer lopez (good choice ben!)
